The Renagade

Wifey wanted a small Jeep, so the KJ Cherokee went and we bought a new (in september 2016) Renegade 1.4T Limited auto. Nice enough to drive, and up until its first service the only issue we had was with a parking sensor that failed after a month of ownership. After the first service back in September things have gone down hill. On damp days the dashboard lights up like a christmas tree and the engine misfires. First recovery back to the dealer we got a new coil pack and 2 O2 sensors, all was well for about 3 weeks and then it failed again. This time we had a missfire, no electrical power steering, no electrical hand brake and a few other warnings. Jeep sent a technician to look at the Jeep this time, and after an hour or so of diagnostic work he thought we have a wiring loom fault in the engine bay, or water ingress into the loom somewhere as the faults changed as the car warmed up. So another trip to a different dealership this time, and after plugging in the Jeep they initially found 6 outstanding software updates (strange the first dealership didn’t), and after applying the updates the faults cleared, they ran it for a couple of days to confirm no further faults and returned it to us. Now we get to December 22nd and the fault returns, CEL light on the dash, miss fire, and hill decent & brake warnings. So off to the dealers again

I think it is water ingress into the electrics somewhere, and as soon as it dries out at the dealers workshop the issues magically disappear. I believe the O2 and coil pack swap outs when the first fault appeared were not needed, the Jeep just wanted to be dried out, same goes for the second fix. So the Jeep is back at the dealers awaiting another look at by a mechanic, where I expect they will find nothing wrong again as it will have dried out again. Will be calling Jeep UK about the issues in the new year, we have lost faith in this Jeep completely.

Muddy

First time is has ever got muddy in my ownership (looking under possibly ever) A run up to check my log store. Need to get a tow hitch fitted so I can get my logs home on the trailer

New Grand

The silver v8 has gone to new a new owner, just as I had it how I liked it. Had to go to make way for the latest Jeep in the fleet, a 2007 3l CRD Overland

\not going to see much offroad action in this one for a while, its all shiny

Recirc blend door

Well I am gettting codes 52, 54, & 56 from the heater and a random misting up, so the recirc door was broken (along with the heater blend doors).
Quick fix is to tie wrap the recirc door open to the outside air, just need to drop the blower motor and drill 4 holes.

The view up through the mounting hole where the blower motor sits, recirc door way just swaying loose.

View of the door with the glove box removed. Just drill 4 holes from the motor side and zip tie the door up against the plastic grill

And done. Much easier to use long ties and cut them short, space is tight to get hands in there
