Starting to get a few whines of the grands axles after 175k miles, sounds like diff bearings, not serious yet but want to plan ahead.

Do I rebuild the current axles (no regear, just bearings & seals) or get a second hand set?

Advantage of the second had set is I could get a set from a V8 so go from 3.55 to 3.73 so I could go up a couple of sizes on the tyres. Tempted to do this (especially if a vari-loc set could be found).

If I do a bearing/seal refresh I could find I still need to replace the RnP anyway, but I would have to pay for the rebuild...

Depending if I can get a set of v8 axles cheap enoough I can swap em myself no problems, but I could end up with another duff set.....thought peeps?

yep, sat on the drive needing an engine fitted, 50+ hour weeks means no spannering time, plus driving 1000 odd miles a week means the Jeep is getting some abuse of late
