  It`ll slide along rather than sink. Thinking about it though I think the design does owe a lot the WW11 Duck.

Nice one David! You have the same setup as I have in the RR
For a mid range price CB they seem very good for the money!

Got the same mat's as yours in my car :D

I have only had one contact and was informed my signal was strong, but audio was quiet. I have tried to make more contacts to check it, but not got any replies. I hope I will get some this weekend. I can`t see any reason why I should be quiet. I`ve got a big gob.

IIRC something to so with the pos of the ariel (distance from the rig) has someting to do with sounding quiet and the signal being good, this was part of the problem with mine. i think

try moving the ariel as far away as possible from the rig and give it a go

I think I might have found the problem though. When I installed the radio and mounted the antena in the center of the roof, it had been raining. I wiped the area where the mag mount was going and positioned it. When I checked the swr it was 1.1. However we havn`t had any rain for a few days now so the car is dry and when I checked the swr today it was 2.5 I have moved the antena to the back of the roof again and the swr dropped to 1.8 to 2.1. I loosened the grub screw and raised the whip about 3mm and the reading was above 2 through the channels. So I shortened the whip about 3mm and replaced it. The swr then was 1.7 to 1.9 over the range. So I took another 3mm off hoping it would drop further, but it didn`t it stayed at 1.7 to 1.9. So I have left it at that, but I`m not happy with it. I would like swr to be below 1.5 through the range.

This is new position.
